The Baker and the Beauty is a romantic comedy-drama television series on ABC. The series is developed by Dean Georgaris, based on the highly acclaimed Israeli series, The Beauty and the Baker. The American version premiered on ABC on April 13, 2020. The first season of The Baker and the Beauty had nine episodes, and ended on June 1, 2020.

“Daniel Garcia is working in the family bakery and doing everything that his loving Cuban parents and siblings expect him to do. But on a wild Miami night he meets Noa Hamilton, an international superstar and fashion mogul, and his life moves into the spotlight. Will this unlikely couple upend their lives to be together and pull their families into a culture clash?”

The Baker and the Beauty – Season 1 Ratings
Season 1 of The Baker and the Beauty had an average demo rating of 0.47 in the 18-49 demographic, and an average of 2.5 million viewers across its first season. The series stood second to last in the list of ABC’s scripted shows for 2019-20, in terms of demo ratings, and at number 18, in terms of viewership. Compared to the original Israeli series, which was highly acclaimed and is the highest-rated Israeli television series, its American counterpart failed to live up to the expectations. Even though the series has a 86% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critic reviews of the shows have been fairly average.
The Baker and the Beauty – Is it coming back for Season 2?
Despite its popularity among fans, The Baker and the Beauty will not be coming back for a second season. The series was cancelled by ABC in June 2020, shortly after the first season had finished airing. Following the cancellation, Nathalie Kelley, who plays Noa Hamilton on the show, has urged fans to sign a petition and get the show back on air. She has also condemned the network’s decision to cancel the only show with a Latin background, and has termed it as “an extremely tone deaf decision”.
As of right now, as the hunt for a new network for the show carries on, The Beauty and the Baker remains cancelled.
