Created by Lena Waithe, The Chi is an American drama television series. The show is about life in a neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. The pilot was directed by Rick Famuyiwa. The series has received a positive response from the audience and has been rated 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb.

Waithe is also the executive producer alongside Common, Elwood Reid, Aaron Kaplan, Rick Famuyiwa, Ayanna Floyd Davis, Justin Hillian, Jet Wilkinson, Shelby Stone and Derek Dudley. It premiered on Showtime on January 7, 2018 and ran for three more seasons. It was renewed for a fifth season in August 2021 which was released on June 24, 2022. The series has been renewed for a sixth season.

The Chi Plot and Cast

The makers have not confirmed anything on what would happen in Season 6. However, it is confirmed to continue from where the fifth season ended.

The show is described as following “a fateful turn of events that sends shockwaves through a community on the Southside of Chicago and connects the lives of Emmett, Brandon, Ronnie and Kevin in unexpected ways.”

All those who played an important role in the first five seasons are expected to reprise their roles. This includes Jason Mitchell as Brandon Johnson, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Ronnie Davis, Jacob Latimore as Emmett Washington, Alex Hibbert as Kevin Williams, Tiffany Boone as Jerrika Little and Yolonda Ross as Jada Washington. We will also get to see Armando Riesco as Detective Cruz, Rolando Boyce as Darnell, Barton Fitzpatrick as Reg Taylor, Shamon Brown Jr. as Stanley, Michael V. Epps as Jake Taylor and Birgundi Baker as Kiesha Williams.

The fifth season of The Chi premiered on June 24, 2022 and it was later renewed for a sixth season. For now, we can expect Season 6 to premiere sometime in 2023.

There is no confirmation about the number of episodes in the sixth season of The Chi. All five seasons of the series The Chi include ten episodes each and so, the new season might consist of ten episodes.
