Ready to hear about the next controversial drama to come out regarding American president Donald Trump? The Comey Rule is an upcoming political drama miniseries on the Showtime Network. It is based on former FBI director James Comey’s book A Higher Loyalty. It is probably one of the most scathing commentaries against Donald Trump on TV, even though that was not its purpose. The true purpose of the show is to present the character of James Comey and attempt to do it justice. Is it worth watching? When does it come out? Read more to find out!
The Comey Rule: Plot and Cast
Speed actor Jeff Daniels plays the role of ex-intelligence official James Comey. He was the man responsible for looking into the Hillary Clinton emails and analysing Russian interference in the 2016 elections. However, in playing this role, he managed to anger both Democrats and Republicans.
Irish actor Brendan Gleason plays the role of Donald Trump, current American president. He manages to encapsulate the aura of Trump fully, with his overpowering narcissistic attitude as well as a great rendition of the manipulative yet clueless attitude the president displays.
The film attempts to show James Comey in a neutral light, which according to Comey himself in his book, should be as a self-righteous person, who wouldn’t even cut the line at a cafeteria. However, due to the circumstances aforementioned, this position can be looked at in many ways, especially depending on one’s own political views.
The two-part show succeeds in entertaining viewers of all political beliefs and sends them away with their own interpretation of events.
