The Crown Season 5: Release date, Cast, Plot, Trailer, and More!

The Crown is an excellent Netflix original show, loosely based on the real-world events that followed the political rivalries and romances of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. It also portrays the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. Brilliantly dramatized, of course, to make a great watch.

The Crown Season 5: Cast and Plot!

The Crown Season 5 will bring a brand new cast, continuing the tradition of the first four seasons, which saw a huge cast overhaul after season two.
The first two seasons spanned from 1947 till 1964 and seasons three and four from 1964 till the1990s.
The upcoming Seasons five and six are set to cover the 1990s and as such, the main cast will be the familiar cast of old people, bringing them closer to how we know them today. The BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton will be playing Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown seasons five and six. She replaces the role of Olivia Colman, who played it in seasons three and four.

Game of Thrones and The Two Popes star Jonathan Pryce stars as the late Prince Philip in Season 5. This was previously played by Tobias Menzies who recently won an Emmy for his acting in Season Four.

Originally speculated as the final season, the fifth and sixth seasons of The Crown will course through Elizabeth II’s reign in the late 20th century, finishing with her reign into the 21st century. Creator Peter Morgan has actually changed his mind on ending the show after all these five seasons, to do the story more “justice”.

The Crown Season 5: Trailer and Release date!

There is no trailer for The Crown Season 5 yet. A trailer is likely to drop closer to the show’s release date in November 2022.
In the meantime, the first four seasons of The Crown are available to stream and download on Netflix now. Check out the first look of Season 5 here:

The last weekend of September the Netflix fan event TUDUM was held. There we could see a video of Imelda Staunton, the new Queen Elizabeth II of England.
The new episodes will arrive in November 2022, so we will have to wait almost a year to see what the English royal family has in store between 1990 and 2000.
