The Duchess is a British comedy drama series created by Canadian-British comedian and actress Katherine Ryan. The series features Ryan in the leading role of a single mother. It is one of the most radical shows created this year, as Ryan’s character wants to be a mother without the involvement of a man. The Duchess: Plot and Cast

The show features a single mother Katherine (played by Katherine Ryan) who is a devoted mother to her daughter Olive (played by Kate Byrne). Olive begs to have a younger sibling and Katherine feels pressured to please her nine-year old daughter. She visits a fertility clinic but hardly likes any of the donor choices given to her.

She wonders whether she should go to Olive’s father, Shep (played by Rory Keenan). Shep is Katherine’s ex-partner and a boy band member. They both have a terrible relationship where they disagree and fight about everything, which makes Katherine hesitate at first. However, she decides to go ahead with it, since Shep is devoted to Olive.

Katherine is also dating a handsome orthodontist named Evan (played by Steen Raskopoulos). Will this juggle between a baby daddy and her current boyfriend result in complete whiplash for Katherine. Not to mention Shep’s fiancée Cheryl (played by Doon Mackichan), who might not like the arrangement.

The show also features Michelle de Swarte who plays Katherine’s best friend Bev. Beau Gadsdon plays Millie, Olive’s friend and Sophie Fletcher plays Jane, Millie’s mother.
