The entire screen fingerprint scanner is coming soon; Samsung patents the new technology

Well so you have read the title properly, Samsung has recently filed a new patent which clearly describes a way in which you can turn the entire display of your mobile device like a fingerprint scanner. As per the leaked details, we got to know that this patent clearly describes the optical reader and also a couple of notes which has the content related to the foldable devices.

If you could observe the image closely, you can find the notch up right there are we do not use about the full-screen display without the notch though because Samsung has not implemented this on any of their devices yet. Anyways, so now talking about the new reader, this will be requiring a new low-powered processor which will wait for the user to touch the screen when the main chipset sleeps. So technically, this scanner will be scanning the fingerprint 3 times and each scan will take up to 20-30 milliseconds.

To improve the accuracy, the brightness of the screen will also be adjusted between each scan which can take up to 200 milliseconds. So the display can easily go up anywhere between 200 nits to 600 nits, and can also hit over 1000 nits in the highest brightness mode. Here nits basically mean the units of the luminance which is used to describe the various sources of lights. So all in all, it would take up to 700 milliseconds to complete this entire scan, but then we are just in the initial stage and we can consider this as a prototype.

There are a lot more advancements to come in wherein we can expect higher speed. The current physical fingerprint scanners, the in-display fingerprint scanners are fine by then this is something which is next level technology. If this technology could come to its existence then it would be really awesome to experience it, you just need to place your finger anywhere on the display and boom your device is unlocked.
