Developed by Andrew W. Marlowe & Terri Edda Miller, The Equalizer is an American crime drama television series that premiered on CBS on February 7, 2021. It is the second reboot in the franchise, following the 2014 film and its 2018 sequel, and is a reboot of the 1980s series with the same name. In May 2022, the series was renewed for a third and fourth season.

The series is co-created by executive producers Richard Lindheim, Michael Sloan, and Queen Latifah, who also stars as the title character. John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, Andrew Marlowe, and Terri Miller also serve as executive producers. Lindheim died from heart failure on January 18, 2021, while working on the series; the series premiere is dedicated to his memory.

The Equalizer Plot and Cast

The plot details for Season 3 are yet to be revealed as the show was recently renewed this month. However, it is expected to continue from where Season 2 ended.

Season 1 introduced audiences to Robyn McCall, a former CIA agent who takes up the mantel of The Equalizer, a private citizen helping the poor and downtrodden right their wrongs. She is dogged by Detective Marcus Dante, who is determined to discover the identity of the mysterious urban Robin Hood. By the end of the season, both Robyn’s Aunt Vi and Robyn’s daughter, Delilah had finally learned what Robyn does, and it’s not run an international nonprofit.

Season 2 continued McCall’s vigilante justice with Dante helping her out along the way. After being profiled, kidnapped and beaten by white cops, Dante finds himself disillusioned with the badge and turns it in.

The expected cast members of Season 3 includes Queen Latifah, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Lorraine Toussaint, Chris Noth, Jennifer Ferrin, Erica Camarano, Dominic Fumusa, Frank Pando, Krystal Joy Brown, Kaci Walfall, Adam Gagan, Rob Giumarra, Michael Rady, Laila Robins and others.

The Equalizer Season 3 Release Date

Since The Equalizer was renewed for a third season in May 2022, we can expect the third season to premiere sometime in 2022. However, the makers are yet to provide an official confirmation on the same.

The number of episodes for the upcoming season has not been confirmed since it has been different in the first two seasons. The makers are expected to reveal further details in the next few months.
