The Eternals is going to be the twenty-fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will be the second film in Phase Four of the MCU after Black Widow. The film was announced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in April 2018. The Eternals is based on an immortal alien race who have hidden themselves on Earth for thousands of years. After the events in Avengers: Endgame, the Eternals reunite to protect humanity from the dangers posed by their evil counterparts- the Deviants. The film is directed by Chloé Zhao. Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo have written the screenplay of The Eternals.
Cast of The Eternals
The Eternals boasts of quite an ensemble cast. Richard Madden plays the role of Ikaris, an all-powerful Eternal. Gemma Chan plays the role of Sersi, a humankind loving Eternal. Kumail Nanjiani plays the role of Kingo, a cosmic-powered Eternal who becomes a popular Bollywood star to blend in on Earth. Lauren Ridloff plays the role of Makkari, an Eternal who is super-fast. Brian Tyree Henry plays the role Phastos, an Eternal who is an intelligent cosmic-powered inventor. He is the first superhero to be depicted gay in the MCU. Haaz Sleiman plays the role of Phastos’ husband.
Salma Hayek plays the role of Ajak, the wise and spiritual leader of the Eternals. Lia McHugh plays the role of Sprite, an Eternal who is eternally young. Don Lee plays the role of a powerful Eternal called Gilgamesh and Barry Keoghan plays the role of an aloof Eternal called Druig. Angelina Jolie plays the role of the fierce warrior Eternal Thena. Kit Harington plays the role of Dane Whitman, a human warrior.
Release Date of The Eternals
The Eternals was first scheduled to release on November 6, 2020. The release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now slated to release on February 12, 2021. Marvel Studios are yet to release the official trailer for The Eternals.
