The First Lady: Release Date, Plot, and more!
Showtime is bringing a brand new show, The First Lady, which is an American anthology drama television series. It is created by Aaron Cooley, who is also the executive producer alongside Viola Davis, Julius Tennon, Cathy Schulman, Jeff Gaspin, Brad Kaplan and Susanne Bier.
On February 25, 2021, it was announced that filming had begun in Covington, Georgia for this series. The series is now scheduled to premiere soon.
So, when is the brand new series releasing? What is the plot? Who will play the lead roles? Keep reading to know further details.
The First Lady Release Date
After one year of completing the filming, the series is scheduled to air on April 17, 2022, on Showtime and internationally the same year on Paramount+. All the episodes are being directed by Susanne Bier, while the writers are different for each.
Two episodes have been confirmed until now. The first one, entitled “That White House” is released on April 17, 2022, followed by the second, “Voices Carry” released on April 24, 2022.
The First Lady Plot and Cast
The First Lady will explore the personal and political lives of three dynamic First Ladies, tracing their journeys to Washington through interweaving storylines. It won’t just focus on their lives as Presidential spouses, but reveal what got them to the White House, starting out during their early years and following them as they move to Washington D.C.
Now talking about the cast it includes Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford, Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt, Kiefer Sutherland as President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Aaron Eckhart as President Gerald Ford.
We will also get to see Dakota Fanning as Susan Elizabeth Ford, O-T Fagbenle as President Barack Obama, Lexi Underwood as Malia Obama, Saniyya Sidney as Sasha Obama, and Regina Taylor as Michelle Robinson.
