The Good Fight is a legal television series made for CBS’s streaming service CBS All Access. It is the first original scripted series of CBS All Access. The series has been created by Robert King, Michelle King and Phil Alden Robinson and a spin-off and sequel to The Good Wife. The first season had 10 episodes and it premiered on 19th February 2017 where the first episode aired on CBS followed by the airing of other episodes on CBS All Access. The second season of the series premiered on 4th March 2018 followed by Season 3 on 14th March 2019 and Season 4 on 9th April 2020.

The fourth season ended on 28th May 2020 and the series has been already renewed for a fifth season. The first season had 10 episodes, second season had 13 episodes, third season had 10 episodes and fourth season had 7 episodes. The series has received positive reviews from critics and has an approval rating of 98% (Season 1), 96% (Seasons 2 and 3) and 100% (Season 4) and a score of 80 (Season 1), 70 (Season 2), 83 (Season 3) and 84 (Season 4) out of 100 on Metacritic.

Release Date of The Good Fight Season 5

The fourth season of The Good Fight premiered on 9th April 2020 and had seven episodes with a runtime of 51 minutes for every episode. The series was renewed for a fifth season even before the finale of Season 4. Filming was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic and filming started in February 2021. The official release date has not been revealed yet by the makers of the show but if the filming wraps up in summer 2021, then we can expect the fifth season by the end of 2021.

Cast of The Good Fight Season 5

Christine Baranski will return to portray her role as Diane Lockhart and without her, the show will remain incomplete. Other lead characters include Nyambi Nyambi as Jay DiPersia, Audra McDonald as Liz Lawrence, Sarah Steele as Marissa Gold, Michael Boatman as Julius Cain, Zach Granier as David Lee, John Larroquette as Gavin Firth and Hugh Dancy as Caleb Garlin. Cush Jumbo and Delroy Lindo will not return as Lucca Quinn and Adrian Boseman for the fifth season.

Plot of The Good Fight Season 5

By the end of Season 4, Reddick, Boseman and Lockhart lose their reputed client, Chumhum and their founding partner’s name has been tarnished and they are left to explore uncharted territory. The last moments of Season 4 saw Lockhart and colleagues brooding over their lost freedom and also investigating the surface of the mysterious “Memo 618”. The fifth season will surely shed light on themes like “Black Lives Matter” and the presidential election.
