Created by Bruce Miller, The Handmaid’s Tale is an American dystopian television series. The show is based on the 1985 novel of the same name by Canadian author Margaret Atwood.

The first season of The Handmaid’s Tale was premiered on 26 April 2017. The Handmaid’s Tale’s first season won eight Primetime Emmy Awards from 13 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama.

The Handmaid’s Tale Plot and Cast

In season one of The Handmaid’s Tale, we’re introduced to the horrifying dystopia of Gilead, where women are stripped of all their rights, separated from their families and forced to bear children for wealthy commanders and their wives, which are forcibly removed from them.

The Handmaid’s Tale will continue to explore June’s trauma following her escape from Gilead.
The shocking finale ended on a major cliffhanger after June Osborne finally got revenge against Commander Fred Waterford. The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 is likely to explore the consequences of June’s actions, as well as the fallout for a pregnant Serena Waterford.

The main cast includes Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy Waterford, Alexis Bledel as Emily, Madeline Brewer as Janine, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, OT Fagbenle as Luke, Max Minghella as Nick, Samira Wiley as Moira, Bradley Whitford as Commander Lawrence and Amanda Brugel as Rita.

The streaming service Hulu has yet to confirm when The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 will be hitting our TV screens. It is currently in production, though, so it’s looking likely to be early 2022.

The series will be available for streaming on Hulu. Viewers who wish to watch it can purchase a Hulu subscription which starts at $6.99 and goes up to $70.99 per month.
