Created by Bruce Miller, The Handmaid’s Tale is an American dystopian television series. It is based on the 1985 novel of the same name by Canadian author Margaret Atwood.
Miller is also the executive producer alongside Warren Littlefield, Reed Morano, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Ilene Chaiken, Elisabeth Moss, Mike Barker, and many more. The series debuted on April 26, 2017, and ran for more than four seasons. In September 2022, before the fifth season premiere, the series was renewed for a sixth and final season.
So, when is the sixth season released? What is the plot? Who will be in the cast? Continue reading to know more details.
The Handmaid’s Tale Plot and Cast
On June 24, the United States Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade, effectively ending the constitutional right to abortion. Because The Handmaid’s Tale revolves around women’s rights, particularly reproductive rights, Littlefield was asked if the Supreme Court’s decision will have an impact on the upcoming season of The Handmaid’s Tale.
Littlefield, on the other hand, believes that season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale will not be altered to reflect the repeal of Roe v. Wade. “I doubt it because we have a pretty compelling narrative.” “I mean, the series echoes what we’re dealing with today,” Littlefield explained to Deadline.
The main cast members of the series who are expected to reprise their roles include Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O. T. Fagbenle, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley, Amanda Brugel, and many more are there.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Release Date
Like many original Hulu series, the release date for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 is presently uncertain, although that is likely because the season’s development is still in its pre-production phase. The writers will need some time to complete the season, and the cast will need time to introduce any past or new characters for the last season one last time.
But the show is expected to have a late 2023 or early 2024 release, with episodes lasting, on average, 41–65 minutes. It is anticipated that it will elaborate on the fifth season finale, which will create the plot for the finale season and conclude the storyline in a proper way that the characters and the audience deserve to see.
