Following the success of the first two Kingsman films, there is another film lined up for release. And this time, it will be a prequel film. The King’s Man, directed by Matthew Vaughn, is the first spin-off film in the Kingsman universe and the third film in the franchise overall. The film will be based in the early 1900s and will focus on the creation of the famous spy agency. The film was announced by director Matthew Vaughn in 2018. The official synopsis of the film reads:
“As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man and his protégé must race against time to stop them.”
The Kingsman films are loosely based on the comic book series of the same name, created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. The first two films did well both critically and financially; raking in a collective box-office collection of $815 million. A third Kingsman film, apart from the prequel, is also currently in development. It is titled Kingsman: The Blue Blood.
