The Lord of The Rings: Gollum – Release Date, Characters, Gameplay and more!

The first screenshots of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum-Daedelic’s forthcoming stealth-action game-have appeared. It’s the first game in a new alliance between German publisher and Middle Earth Companies, a corporation that does license work for Tolkien’s books.

Given that most of the Lord of the Rings games are normally focused on the sword-slashing outbursts of Aragorn and others. This game will probably offer a creative approach to J.R.R. Tolkien’s adored fantasy world.

Release Date

On March 26, 2019, Daedalic revealed that they will be producing The Lord of The Rings-Gollum. They also reported that the game is in production for PS5 and Xbox Series X. There’s no official launch date for The Lord of The Rings-Gollum, although some evidence points to the release in late 2021.

Gameplay

Creating a game that revolves around the Gollum of all characters seems a bit strange. But based on how it plays, it may bring an interesting twist to the story.

The gameplay is the main concern about The Lord of The Rings: Gollum because it’s going to be focused on Daedalic’s previous experience. The Edge interview also notes that players would have to opt to side with Smeagol or Gollum at some stages, adding an option to the game.

The Lord of The Rings: Gollum may also feature agility, wide-open stages, and a step away from violence typically seen in the Lord of The Rings games.

Characters

Beyond its outline, Daedalic has not provided many details about which characters to expect in the new title. Since the game is set before Gollum appears in a novel.

The Lord of The Rings: Gollum would also feature the legendary Nazgul. But Fiebig stated that they may not appear as terrified as their film counterparts.

Platforms

Set for release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021. This Gollum will not be based on Peter Jackson’s imagination of the role. But the screenshots that popped up on Gamestar prove that he doesn’t look that unique at all. Yet there appears to be no discussion of hardware of the current generation.

Screenshots

In any case, 11 screenshots have been released in total. Gollum is included in a couple of them. Some of these images have been used to show some of the game’s worlds.

Some of the screenshots are given below:

There’s a bit more cartoon consistency on the screens than have been seen in Monolith’s Middle-earth games in recent years. Much of the screenshots show the darkest aspect of Mordor, but there’s a bit of bright green New Zealand in there too.

Since Daedalic guarantees that the game will try to remain faithful to the book. One can hopefully predict at least a portion of Gollum’s story before Sam and Frodo are taken prisoner, but they will have to wait for further information.
