The covid-19 pandemic is taking a toll on the theatrical releases of movies worldwide. With public gatherings being banned in almost all the countries across the globe, theaters and cinema halls will continue to remain shut in many countries for at least a couple of months more.
Major global theatrical releases such as Black Widow, No Time To Die and Fast and Furious 9 which were to release to in the coming few months have been postponed either towards the end of this year or onto the next year. As the prediction of how soon the theaters will reopen still cannot be made with any certainty, producers begin look over the alternatives of a theatrical release for their medium and low-budget films.
