After a 20 year wait, fans of the hit sci-fi thriller The Matrix finally have reasons to rejoice. The Matrix 4 has officially been confirmed. We will be seeing the famous Neo and Trinity once again. The fourth Matrix film will be directed by Lana Wachowski. Lana is the older sister of Lily Wachowski, who co-directed the previous three Matrix films.

Cast of The Matrix 4
Keanu Reeves will be returning to his role of Thomas Anderson/Neo. Carrie-Anne Moss will also be returning to her role of Trinity. Although both of these characters died at the end of The Matrix Revolutions, it will be interesting to see how director Lana Wachowski brings these characters back. Jada Pinkett Smith will also reprise her role as Niobe from The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Lambert Wilson will also return to his role of The Merovingian.
There have been some significant new additions to the cast. These include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from the famous HBO series Watchmen. Also joining the cast is Jessica Henwick, from Marvel’s Iron Fist, and Neil Patrick Harris, famous from his role as Barney from How I Met Your Mother. Famous Bollywood celebrity Priyanka Chopra also joins the cast. The roles that the new members of the cast will be portraying has still been kept a secret by the makers of the film.

Release Date of The Matrix 4
The Matrix 4 was initially scheduled to release on May 21, 2021, and would have been clashing with Keanu Reeves’ other famous franchise, John Wick 4. The filming for the movie had begun in San Francisco in February 2020. It had also moved to Chicago and Berlin for the same purposes. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of The Matrix 4 has been postponed by a year, with Godzilla vs. Kong now taking its original release date. The Matrix 4 will be releasing on April 1, 2022.
