What is this about?
The North Water is based on Ian McGuire’s novel of the same name, which was adapted for television. The story follows Patrick Sumner, a disgraced ex-army physician whose reputation has been shattered following an incident in India.
In 1859, he joins the Volunteer’s whaling voyage to the Arctic as a ship’s doctor. Onboard, he must contend with the severe conditions as well as the crew’s aggression.
"It's a great mistake to think too much." Here's a sneak peek of Jack O'Connell as the conflicted surgeon with a murky past in #TheNorthWater.

The body of a murdered cabin boy is discovered deep into the voyage, and Patrick is forced to act. However, he must be wary of Henry Drax, a harpooner, and ruthless man. Soon after, Patrick realizes the true purpose of the excursion, and a fight ensues between the two men. There’s nowhere to hide in the middle of the Arctic.
