The movie is based on the novel called ‘The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor’ by Jake Tapper‘ was directed by Rod Lurie and distributed by Screen Media Films. The movie essentially was to be released during the South by Southwest Film Festival, however, with the cancellation of the film festival due to the COVID-19 situation. The Outpost was given the right to be streamed on iTunes and as VOD(Video On Demand).
The Plot of the Movie
The Outpost is centred around the lives of 53 U.S. soldiers who fought in the battle of Kamdesh. They were based in Afghanistan and had to fight against 400 insurgents. The soldiers were situated in an area called Combat Outpost Keating, which was nearby to the Pakistani border.
The purpose of the soldiers based in Outpost Keating was to convince the locals to agree for communal development projects and activities. Outpost Keating was always under the constant threat of being infiltrated and attacked by the Taliban, which put the soldiers lives in danger.

The praises the movie has received so far :
Initially, the rights of the movie were given to Universal Studios but due to some fall out the studios dropped the rights. The movie has garnered attention from the critiques within just a week of its release. The critiques have applauded the efforts of the actors and were impressed with the depiction of the lives of the soldiers in Afghanistan.
The movie has received 91% liking from Rotten Tomatoes and has also been described as a ‘harrowingly engrossing narration’ which will leave you hammered down to the core. The viewers have described it as a ‘vivid and heart-pumping movie’. The fans of the novel and many veterans were left shaken to the core, the movie’s aim was to instil the sense of patriotism and love for America.
Here we have the actor Scott Eastwood sharing his experience on the set of the movie and how he transitioned into the role of a rustic soldier of the U.S army. It was released on the 4th of July weekend and was a major success as it was highly streamed according to sources. As it is based on real-life events it did acquire a lot of views and solidarity from the armed forces.
The intention of the book and the movie was to give a raw and realistic account of the lives of the 53 soldiers and all that they had to face during the war. The accounts of the soldiers covered was to give closure to the families of the martyred soldiers. The air of patriotism and the gooseflesh that this movie arose was an experience altogether.
