Hello, Readers! B.J. Novak makes his streaming television debut with The Premise, a new anthology series based on his work on The Office and The Newsroom. Not only is Novak the show’s creator, but he also co-wrote two episodes, directed two episodes, and is a co-executive producer.

In the United States, the series was premiered on FX on Hulu on Thursday, September 16.
The first two episodes are available on Thursday, September 16, with the remaining three episodes running on the channel once a week. Each episode lasts only 30 minutes.

What is this about?
The show is a contemporary anthology series that delivers topical stories. Each episode is distinct, addressing a universal theme via the eyes of a particular character.
The first episode, for example, is titled “Social Justice Sex Tape” and stars Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen) as a man who can use a sex tape to help an innocent man escape from prison.
Tracee Ellis Ross from Black-ish, Ayo Edebiri from Dickinson, and Jermaine Fowler from Coming 2 America all appear in the episode.
Meanwhile, “Moment of Silence,” the second episode, stars Jon Bernthal of The Punisher, Boyd Holbrook of Logan, Beau Bridges of Homeland, and Amy Landecker of Transparent in a story about a man who becomes the National Gun Lobby’s PR director after his daughter is slain by gun violence.
Lucas Hedges of Ladybird returns to his high school to give to the construction of a new library but instead reveals that as a prize, he would have sex with the school’s valedictorian.
“The Commenter,” the fourth episode, tells the story of what occurs when a young couple seeks praise from an internet troll. Lola Kirke and Soko, the stars of Gone Girl, appear in this episode.
“Butt Plug,” the fifth and final episode, tells the story of a man who went from being a destitute immigrant to being a multi-millionaire businessman by exacting revenge on his high-school bully. Daniel Dae Kim from Lost and Eric Lange from Narcos star in this episode.
