The Sandman: Plot and Cast

Following the comic book plot, the story is based in 1916, when a clique of occultists seeks to entrap the spirit of Death. As it happens, a mistaken spell leads them to capture Dream aka The Sandman, the sibling of Death. Years and years pass by, filled with chaos and lost dreams of humans who are terrified of the night. One sudden day, Dream escapes the magical imprisonment and sets himself off on the quest to gather the objects of power which were stolen from him by the occultists. In his journey of regaining his lost identity, The Sandman is met on the way by ancient biblical figures, namely, the devil, Cain, and Abel, and the members of his family, namely, Destiny, Desire, Despair, and Death.

The cast of The Sandman includes Tom Sturridge as Morpheus / Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Charles Dance as Sir Roderick Burgess, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson as Ethel Cripps, David Thewlis as Dr. John Dee, Kyo Ra as Rose Walker, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Razane Jammal as Lyta Hall, and Sandra James-Young as Unity Kinkaid. Along with them, the voice cast of the show includes Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Mark Hamill as Mervyn Pumpkinhead, and Lenny Henry as Martin Tenbones.
