Many fans have long believed that Neil Gaiman’s beloved graphic novel series, The Sandman could never be adapted into live-action. Netflix, however, never disappoints us and they are giving it a try. The first issue of the series was published by DC in January 1989. And it ran through March 1996. Along the way, this dark and dazzling fantasy saga managed to hit the New York Times Bestseller list. They also influence a whole generation of comic book writers, artists, and readers.

The Sandman: Cast and Plot!

Based on what we know and what we can guess from the trailer, here’s the cast for The Sandman which includes appearances from many DC characters. Tom Sturridge as Morpheus/Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain and many more side casts.

The dream is one of the seven godlike siblings- Death, Desire, Delirium, Despair, Destruction, and Destiny- who each represent a different trait, and Dream is in trouble. Furthermore, he is being kept in captivity by evil but, an extremely powerful sorcerer.
The dream is a personification of all our possible dreams and stories, rolled into one godlike human.
Season 1 of The Sandman will be based on the first two volumes of the comic series, Preludes & Nocturnes and The Doll’s House.

The Sandman is looking super promising! The trailer received a great response from fans all around the world. Everyone is very excited about the release. Check out the first look here:

The Sandman TV show does not have an official release date yet. The trailer assured viewers that it would be “coming soon” but didn’t specify when. It is going to premiere sometime in 2022.
