The Silent Sea is another addition to Netflix’s recent slew of stellar korean dramas and it’s coming soon! The show is a sci-fi streaming tv series and stars k-drama veteran Gong Yoo. It is adapted from The Sea of Tranquility written and directed by the Choi Hang-yong, who also directed this show. Thus, fans can expect a lot from this drama. The series is also set in space, therefore elevating the tension. The show is set to have 8 episodes. Also. Jung Woosung is the executive producer of the series. Therefore there is a lot to look forward to. Let’s take a look at what we know about the show so far.
The Silent Sea: Plot and Cast
The synopsis for the show as taken from Netflix is as follows:
“During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in secrets.”
The series takes place in the distant future. After the Earth’s resources have been depleted, humanity is forced to colonize the moons in the solar system. A special team has been sent to retrieve a mysterious and important sample from an abandoned research base known as Balhae Base. The story revolves around the adventures of this team. The member include is leader Yan Yoon-jae, astrobiologist Song Ji-an and Captain Ryoo Tae-seok, an engineer. We follow them on their conquests as they face head on with many perils. The stakes are high and the courage of all will be tested. Thus, the show is shaping up to be a very fun watch!
As for the cast, Gong Yoo will appear as Han Yoon-Jae, Bae Doona will appear as Doctor Song Ji-an. Lee Joon will appear as Captain Ryoo Tae-Seok with Heo Sung-Tae appearing as Kim Jae-sun. Lastly, Lee Moo-saeng will appear as Gong Soo-hyuk.
