The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3: The third Traveling Pants film is finally happening!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films are based on Ann Brashares’s book series of the same name. The film franchise has two films; the book series has five books. The first two films both did well critically and commercially. The first film, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005), was based on the first novel of the same name in the book series. The second film, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008), was based on the fourth novel in the series, but also incorporated events from the second and the third book. For years, fans have demanded a third Traveling Pants film, and it looks like it might be finally happening.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3- What we know so far

The films are not like the usual comedy-dramas that most films of the genre are. The films tackle heavy topics such as love, loss and friendship. This is part of the reason why the films received a huge amount of affection from fans. The fans have forever asked for a third film. The cast of the film, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, and America Ferrera have also stated their intentions to return for another Traveling Pants film.

In 2018, Alexis Bledel revealed on the The Jimmy Fallon Show that plans for a third film were in the works. Amber Tamblyn also confirmed the same on Twitter.

Sorry for that delay, my daughter needed me. Where was I? Oh yes. Alexis is right. We’ve been pitching and there is a script. A good one. It’s up to a studio now to make the film. So far, no luck. So keep your fingers crossed, or, knock down their doors with jeans emojis.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3 is expected to be based on the last novel in the series, Sisterhood Everlasting. The events in the film are expected to take place ten years after those in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, as they do in the books. The original cast, consisting of Blake Lively as Bridget Vreeland, Amber Tamblyn as Tibby Rollins, Alexis Bledel as Lena Kaligaris and America Ferrera as Carmen Lowell,  are all expected to reprise their roles. The film will be produced by Alloy Entertainment.

As of now, no official release date has been announced for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3.
