Created by Steve Blackman, The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero streaming television series based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. It revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an imminent apocalypse.
The series is produced by Borderline Entertainment, Dark Horse Entertainment, and Universal Cable Productions. The first season was released on Netflix on February 15, 2019. That same month, the series was renewed for a second season, which was released on July 31, 2020. Both seasons received positive reviews from critics. In November 2020, the series was renewed for a third season, which is scheduled to release soon.

The Umbrella Academy Plot and Cast
The setting of The Umbrella Academy Season 3 has been revealed – the next set of episodes will take place at the mysteriously named Hotel Oblivion.
Season 2 ended with the main gang managing to save the world once more. However, while they may have managed to return from the ’60s back to 2019, things have changed. Instead of forming the Umbrella Academy, Reginald began the “Sparrow Academy”, a new group of super-powered beings that are introduced at the very end.
However, their faces are unseen, but we do know Number One is alive again. Showrunner Steve Blackman revealed that the Season 3 premiere will be called “Meet the Family” – so we may be getting to know this new team sooner rather than later.
The main cast members who would be back for Season 3 includes Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castenada, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min and Rita Arya. Since it is a new season, we can expect to see some new faces.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Release Date
The Umbrella Academy season 3 will launch exclusively on Netflix on June 22, 2022. Curiously, that’s a Wednesday, which means Netflix will forego its traditional Friday launch schedule for new releases.
Just like Seasons 1 and 2, there will be 10 episodes in Season 3. The series is distributed by NBCUniversal Television Distribution and Netflix.
