The Upshaws Season 3: Release Date, Plot and more!

Created by Regina Y. Hicks and Wanda Sykes, The Upshaws is an American sitcom. On August 20, 2019, Netflix gave the production a series order. Hicks and Sykes are also the executive producers of the show alongside Page Hurwitz, Mike Epps and Niles Kirchner.

The first season of the show premiered on Netflix on May 12, 2021. The show received positive reviews from critics. The first part of Season 2 premiered on June 29, 2022 and the second part is releasing in early 2023. The makers have already renewed the show for a third season.

The Upshaws Plot and Cast

The series revolves around the lives of the Upshaw family, a black family trying to make it in the community. Their humble way of living is what makes them relatable to the audience. Bennie, the husband, is a mechanic, while Regina is a nurse. Jr is their firstborn, followed by Aliah and Maya. Kevin is Bennie’s son, whom he fathered with his ex-girlfriend.

The Other family member is Lucretia, who is not Bennie’s favourite but he tolerates her because the children love her, which she reciprocates. Bennie steals Regina’s money, which makes her doubt if he ever cared. When a little girl finally comes out to claim Bennie is the father, things take an exciting turn.

The makers have not revealed anything on what would happen in Season 3 since Season 2 has concluded yet. Everything is dependent on what would happen towards the end of Season 2.

We can expect Reginna and Benjie to reprise their roles. Mike Epps, famous for “Resident Evil” and “BlackAF,” plays Bennie, the husband of Kim Fields (Regina). Together, they have four children – Jermelle Simon as Bernard Upshaw, Khali Spraggins as Aaliyah Upshaw, Diamond Lyons as Kelvin Upshaw, and Journey Christine as Maya Upshaw.

Regina Y. Hicks plays the role of Lucretia, Benjie’s sister-in-law who has quite a strained relationship with Bennie. Other casts are Michl Estime as Tony, Gabrielle Dennis as Tasha, and Page Kennedy as Duck. We should also expect the sitcom to feature new casts.

The Upshaws Season 3 Release Date

The first season of The Upshaws premiered on Netflix on May 12, 2021. The first part of Season 2 premiered on June 29, 2022 and the second part is releasing in early 2023.

Considering everything, the third season should premiere sometime in 2024. The series is produced by Savannah Sweet Productions, Push It Productions and Naptown Productions.
