After an amazing Season 1, The Witcher is all set to return with yet another fabulous season! Find out more about it in the below article.
THE WITCHER:
The Witcher is an American-Polish fantasy serial drama adventure action television series. Produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the series is based on the book series (of the same name)by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. It is set on a fictional landmass known as “the Continent”, The Witcher show runs through the legend of Geralt of Rivia and princess Ciri, who are linked to each other by destiny.
The first season (consisting of eight episodes) was released on Netflix on December 20, 2019. It is based on The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. They are collections of stories that come before the main Witcher saga.
The show was compared to Game of Thrones but turns out all the comparisons were irrelevant. Fans loved the first season. “I liked the fact that the show didn’t have the sort of weightiness to it that Game of Thrones had,” fantasy author Anthony Ha said (viaWired). “There’s something about starting an episode and being like, ‘I don’t know where this is going, this is just going to be kind of a dumb, fun adventure’ that I found really refreshing at this point in time. Whereas I felt while I was watching the final season of Game of Thrones, there’s this feeling of just everything taking on this extra gravity because it’s all coming to an end.”
About the upcoming season:
Before the release of Season 1, Netflix renewed the series for the second season in November 2019. The official date isn’t announced yet but it can be expected in mid-2021.
