Japanese manga is always attractive. Eiichiro Oda’s beautiful manga One Piece is a step further. Outselling famous comics like Dragon Ball, Golgo 13, and Naruto which sold more than 462 million copies, One Piece stands far away. The animated show is available on Netflix. But the streaming giant has now planned to make it a Live-Action. Things you should know about Netflix’s Live-Action ‘One Piece’!
Tomorrow Studios who are presently working on Cowboy Bebop Adaptation will produce the series. Netflix has ordered 10 episodes for the new live-action series. Netflix’s Live-Action ‘One Piece’ will be based on the original series that contains 965 chapters and more than 95 volumes. With such an amount of content, the show will survive for more than 10 seasons at least.
Beginning its adventure on July 22, 1997, on Weekly Shonen Jump, the series has attracted millions outside Japan. Concerning the Netflix production, Eiichiro comments, “I know I announced the production of this back in 2017, but these things take time. Preparations have been slowly progressing behind the scenes, and it seems that I can finally make the big announcement.”
Manga series One Piece is in a variety of forms like merchandise, films, video games, etc. One Piece has attracted huge revenue of $21 billion. It is expected of the makers to produce multiple seasons. The show will be available on Netflix US and other regions too.
One Piece is set in an alternate universe in which people are enjoying the ‘Golden Age of Pirates.’ So Netflix’s Live-Action ‘One Piece’ too would be set in that universe. The characters wish to acquire a treasure called ‘One Piece’ left behind by the greatest pirate Gol D. Roger. Years pass but no one can acquire the wealth. Luffy dreams of obtaining the treasure so he sets out on his voyage. What happens next? Will Luffy succeed in becoming the Pirate King? You will have to watch the series to know the answers.
Netflix releases the live-action show by 2021 only. Marty Adelstein said in an interview, “We have all 10 scripts written. We will start casting when we go back. My suspicion is June 1, but we will start doing our casting. We have a lot of names that we’re talking about, and we should be in production in September. We have been working very closely with Sensei Oda. So, we’re going to get started, and this one is very big. I mean, Snowpiercer was a big production; this is even bigger.”
The filming takes place between August 2020 and early February 2021. The makers chose Cape Town, South Africa for filming the show. Fans are curious to know how their favorite animated series will be like when made into live-action. They also have a pertinent question- Is One Piece never going to end?
