Tina Fey’s latest comedy achievement is about to come to our televisions. And the best part is, it is animated! Well, that is the best part for some of us. Fey is creating the series along with Robert Carlock, who worked alongside her in 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, both of which became cult-favourite hits among Fey’s fans. The series is to be produced and distributed by Netflix, who ordered 20 episodes to be created. Will it be worth watching? When does it come out? Well, keep on reading to find more out!
Mulligan: Plot, Cast and Production
The show imagines a post-apocalyptic scenario on Earth where humans need to figure out how to rebuild society. It asks questions such as ‘Will we know how to farm?’ and ‘How do we start over?’. All this takes place because the aliens attacked Earth and now humans need to learn new ways to survive, or maybe, go back to their old ways.
Fey plays the role of Maggie Mulligan, while Bobby Moynihan plays Jay, Maggie’s husband. Adam Pally plays Brody while Anna Camp plays Sabrina. Both are 13 year olds. Hannah Simone plays Ginger, Maggie’s sister while Jane Lynch plays Mrs Susan, a teacher. Brooklyn 99’s very own Andy Samberg plays Fred, a friend of Brody’s.
Writer Sam Means will work with Fey and Carlock on the comedy. His past writing credits include Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Parks and Recreation, as well as 30 Rock. We can expect all the writers to go extremely funny on this one.
And we really need it too, after the disaster that this year has been. Ugh, we can imagine a post-apocalyptic situation after the pandemic already! What are work parties? How do you dress up in tight jeans and trousers? These seem like questions that will remain unanswerable until perhaps next year.
