Trigger Point Season 2: Release Date, Cast and more!

Created and written by Daniel Brierley, Trigger Point is a 2022 British crime thriller series starring Vicky McClure as a police bomb disposal expert in London. The series was filmed in London.

Mercurio mentored Brierly, who was new to television and developed the series during a television bursary scheme. It was first broadcast on 23 January 2022 on ITV. On 27 February 2022, it was announced that a second series was commissioned.

Trigger Point Plot and Cast

The main storyline of a potential Trigger Point season 2 would focus on another terror campaign gripping London, but it’s unclear at this stage whether the culprits would be English Flag or a different extremist group.

In addition, Brierley has said that he wishes to delve deeper into the complex psychology that underpins Lana Washington’s impressive ability to keep going in the face of terrible loss and insurmountable odds. Brierly said,

“I think Lana is resilient and she’s tough as nails, and that’s part of her charm, but [the trauma] can’t help but have an effect and that was interesting. And if we get any future series, we want to push into that character and see is it good to examine these things? Or is the best way around this to kind of keep living with them?”

He added: “It’s such an interesting subject to deal with because the instinct for Lana would be that she should get help and she should talk. But she would worry that if she talks, if she kind of gives in to the doubt and the fear inside of her, that she’s going to lose her effectiveness… That’s how she feels, but maybe there’s another way around.”

The expected cast for the next season include Vicky McClure as Lana Washington, Adrian Lester as Joel Nutkins, Tom Stokes as Pete, Gavin Sibson as PS Costa, Cal MacAninch as Inspector Lee Robins, Gwynfor Jones as PS Brown, Mark Stanley as DI Thom Youngblood, Manjinder Virk as DI Samira Desai, Eric Shango as Danny, Ralph Ineson as Commander Bregman, Warren Brown as Karl Maguire and others.

Trigger Point Season 2 Release Date

Season one landed in late January 2022, so we wouldn’t expect another season until the new year. It is going to premiere on ITV. ITV is a British free-to-air television network and the oldest commercial network in the UK.

The new season is expected to have six episodes like Season 1. However, the makers are yet to make some other official announcements related to the show.
