Triplets, the sequel to Twins!- Release Date, Cast and more Updates!

Twins, the 1988 buddy comedy film about two genetically created twin brothers separated at birth, was an unusual success at the box office. Ivan Reitman’s successful film has been one of the many highlights of both Arnold Schwarzenegger’s and Danny DeVito’s illustrious career, as they received the highest paychecks of their careers owing to this film. Now, fans of both the actors and their hit comedy flick have a reason to rejoice. The sequel to Twins, which will be called Triplets, is in the making. It is guaranteed to cause more laughter and hysteria than the first one.

Cast of Triplets

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito will obviously be returning to their roles as twin brothers Julius and Vincent, respectively. In 2018, Arnold officially confirmed that Eddie Murphy will be joining the cast of the sequel film as the third brother. As to how Murphy’s character will be related to the twins, he was quoted as saying, “Funny thing happens in the mixing of the sperm.”

When Universal Pictures announced the sequel in 2012, it was also announced that Ivan Reitman, the director of the first film, will be returning to helm the sequel as well. However, as things have progressed, it remains unclear if Reitman will be involved in the making of the film or not. Details regarding other cast members of the film are still under wraps.

Release Date of Triplets

The sequel to Twins was announced way back in 2012. Since then, the film has spent a whopping eight years in and out of development. The film was also put on hold for some time in April 2015. However, in 2018, Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed that the script for Triplets was finished while also confirming Eddie Murphy’s role in the film. As far as the release date is concerned, there still has been no announcement by Universal Pictures about the release date of the film. The release will depend on when filming starts, and with a script ready and major casting done, we can expect an official announcement soon.
