Uncut Gems is not your ‘usual Adam Sandler’ movie! It precisely gives you 2 hours 15 minutes of stress and anxiety! The movie is directed by the Safdie brothers, Josh and Benny Safdie. It was widely released on December 25, 2019 by A24. The movie received critical acclaim, especially for Sandler’s performance, and was listed among the top ten films of 2019 by the National Board Of Review. It became A24’s highest-grossing film domestically!

The film was released internationally on Netflix on January 31, 2020, and in the United States on May 25, 2020. The movie began streaming in EST at 3 am, CET at 2 am, MST/MDT at 1 am and PST at midnight.

The movie is about Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a Jewish jeweler and gambling addict in NYC’s Diamond District. He must retrieve an expensive gem he purchased to pay off his debts. The film also stars Julia Fox (Julia De Fiore), Lakeith Stanfield (Demany), Kevin Garnet. Idina Menzel and Eric Bogosian can also be seen in pivotal roles.

Even though Uncut Gems was one of the best movies of 2019, Adam Sandler did not get enough recognition. He won the Independent Spirit Award For Best Male Lead. But people felt that he deserved an Oscar nomination for his performance!

The anxiety-causing movie was given an average rating of 8.39/10 by Rotten Tomatoes. The site also said, “Uncut Gems reaffirms the Safdies as masters of anxiety-inducing cinema and proves Adam Sandler remains a formidable dramatic actor when given the right material.”
