Vampire Diaries Season 9: Why “Not”?

No, sadly enough, there’s no development on 9th Season of The Vampire Diaries. We can understand the unrest caused by the cancellation of the show among the viewers because we’re disappointed too. Let’s try and understand what’s coming in the way.

Highlights

The Vampire Diaries is an American teen drama revolving around supernatural activities. The Vampire Diaries is developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec.  The show is based on the popular again The Vampire Diaries written by LJ Smith. The series premiered on The CW on September 10, 2009. The pilot episode attracted the most massive audience for The CW of any series premiere since the network began in 2006 with an average viewership of 3.60 million. It was the most-watched series on the system before being superseded by Arrow. The show has received numerous award nominations, winning 4 People’s Choice Award, and many Teen Choice Awards.

Photo: Alpha CodersThe 8th Season of The Vampire Diaries concluded in March 2017. A few months later, it was released on Netflix which obviously stirred the buzz about the show. This stir led to speculations about the Season 9 amongst the Netflix loyalists and The Vampire Diaries fans in general.

Why “Not”?

In the conclusion of the said final season in 2017, fans encountered a bittersweet ending as Elena woke up from her deep sleep, and reunited with her love Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). Unfortunately, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) didn’t get his happy ending after seasons of misery as he sacrificed himself at the last minute. The show ended with Elena and Damon spending their lives together and then reuniting with their families in heaven. Storylines were resolved and wrapped up. That was said to be the first clue suggesting the end of the show. Anyways, it is now deemed to be the perfect ending, and that’s possibly why showrunner Julie Plec doesn’t wish to continue with The Vampire Diaries it on further.
