Vigil Season 2 Release Date

The makers have given the green light to the series for a second season in March 2022. But a specific release date for Vigil Season 2 is yet to be confirmed.

The new season might consist of six episodes as the first season, but an official announcement is yet to be confirmed it. The series is produced by World Productions.

Vigil Season 2 Plot and Cast

Currently, there is no known plot for season two, but we know that the crew will be returning to Scotland to film the series. In the first season, we saw Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva of the Scottish Police Service sent to HMS Vigil, a nuclear-powered Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarine, to investigate a death on board, which takes place shortly after the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler.

Her investigations, and those of her colleagues ashore, bring the police into conflict with the Royal Navy and MI5, the British Security Service. The story has similarities to events involving the Royal Navy submarine HMS Vigilant.

The loss of the fictional trawler Mhairi Finnea in the series bears similarities to the sinking of the FV Antares by the Royal Navy nuclear-powered submarine HMS Trenchant in the Firth of Clyde in 1990. Families of the Antares’ crew expressed upset at scenes of the Mhairi Finnea foundering; however, the BBC denied that the drama was inspired by or based on a specific real-life event.

Talking the cast, includes Suranne Jones, Rose Leslie, Shaun Evans, Martin Compston, Paterson Joseph, Adam James, Gary Lewis, Lauren Lyle, and many more.
