The official synopsis, courtesy of Disney “Marvel Studios’ WandaVision blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.”
“The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.”
The cast includes Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. It’s long been known multiverse is coming to the MCU. It’s right there in the title of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which Kevin Feige says will connect directly to both WandaVision and the third MCU Spider-Man film. While the specific plot of WandaVision is still shrouded in mystery, it’s obvious that the series involves Wanda using her powers to warp reality — Vision wouldn’t be alive or living in a retro sitcom otherwise. It appears to be drawing inspiration from the “House of M” comics event, wherein Wanda’s grief over her children caused her to rewrite reality.
The series is a sequel to Avengers: Endgame and a prequel to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It is the first television series of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series is produced by Marvel Studios and will be released on Disney+.
Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman. The series premieres Jan. 15, 2021, on Disney+.
