Created by Baptiste Filleul, Weekend Family is a French comedy television series for children and teenagers. The show is directed by Sophie Reine, Pierre-Francoid and Martin-Laval.

The first season of the series premiered on February 23, 2022 and received mostly positive reviews from critics. It has been rated 5.9/10 on IMDb. Considering the positive response, the makers have already renewed the series for a second season, which is scheduled to premiere soon.

Weekend Family Plot and Cast

Since the show was renewed for a second season this year, it is hard to predict what would happen in Season 2. However, it is expected to continue from where Season 1 ended.

The basic premise follows Fred, who is the fun and irresistible father of a very diverse family. As a perpetual joker, he tries to be a good father to his daughters Clara, Victoire and Romy, for whom he only takes custody on weekends. Although his daughters’ mothers love Fred, Laurence, Marie-Ange and Helena all had good reasons to leave him. The mothers are never far away, and neither is Stan, Fred’s best friend.

When Fred falls madly in love with Emmanuelle, a Québécois woman living in Paris who studied child psychology and is doing her doctorate, a new phase in life begins for both of them. Emmanuelle, who cannot always rely on the advice of her best friend Cora, has to break away from books and theory every weekend in order to get along with her new family, including Fred’s ex-partners.

Coming to the cast, the leads of Season 1 are expected to reprise their roles. This include Eric Judor, Daphnee Cote Halle, Liona Bordonaro, Roxane Barrazuol, Midie Dreyfus, Jeanne Bournaud, Annabel Lopez, Annelise Hesme, Hafid F. Benamar and Sephora Pondi.

Weekend Family Season 2 Release Date

The first season of Weekend Family was released in February 2022 and it was renewed for a second season five months later. Considering that, Season 2 should premiere sometime in 2023.

The upcoming season might consist of eight episodes like the first season. The series is produced by Elephant International and distributed by Disney Platform Distribution.
