American science fiction Western and dystopian series Westworld finally gets a renewal for the fourth season, amid the running of the third (the official release date is yet uncertain). Even though the ratings have fluctuated, but yet the series is sought after. Directed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the series is produced by HBO and is based on an advanced Wild-West themed amusement park where the guests fulfill their wildest dreams without any fear but eventually expands to the real world of the 21st century where people’s lives are driven and controlled by a powerful artificial intelligence named Rehoboam. Westworld is a one-time destination where you will get an insight into the future of sin, artificial intelligence ultimately controlling each and every aspect of human life.
Even though the first two seasons kept the theme/genre as Western but shifted to a darker genre- Dystopian. The show has received several positive reviews but there were some scenes that were much discussed and criticized. But in the end, the adrenaline rush is much worth off. Each and every episode ends with a cliffhanger, and you cannot help but binge-watch (which eventually gave rise to several fan theories). The closer you experience each episode in sequence, the better you’ll be at decoding the mystery — and the more epic the experience when the twists reveal themselves.
Each and every character in Westworld has a strong personality and empowering character development. And it would be wrong to not discuss the women characters on the show because they literally grab the spotlight. Though the narrative might feel like being run and hosted by men, upon closer look, it’s the women of Westworld who are writing their own stories, ending at a place that has predetermined their destiny and potentially, taking over their world. At one point it will literally be a dilemma for you to choose a favorite character. The series stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Hemsworth, Simon Quarterman, Rodrigo Santoro, Angela Sarafyan, Ed Harris, and the list goes on.
