There’s a new tactical thriller out, thanks to publisher Katnappe and producer Genius Slackers, and that title is called What Happened. The developer explains it as the rare first-person viewpoint of an individual’s journey through anxiety and depression. He guarantees that the compassion you have for the character will subtly influence the outcome of the character’s journey.
Release Date
What Happened will be released for PC through Steam in July (around 30th July). It will be available for other consoles at a later date.
Gameplay
What Happened places you in Stiles a high school student. A young boy who has extreme anxiety and depression. You must lead him through his inner dark and twisting halls, with his life entirely contingent on your solidarity for his troubled state of mind.
The game will not be ideal for all ages. Often, the main character uses sharp instruments to self-harm, takes drugs to reach illusionary worlds, and a non-graphic representation of suicide may occur based on the actions of the player. Cut-scenes and games involve aggression and blood with the use of sharp objects. There is a good vocabulary of dialog and written text.
The gameplay will concentrate on players walking through the halls of Stile’s subconscious and solving puzzles to avoid this inner maze. The ghosts will have to be stopped, and with each action taken, you will get closer to helping the Stiles heal from their misery.
