What To Know About His Dark Materials Season 2

His Dark Materials is a fantasy drama television series based on Philip Pullman’s novel series of the same name. Jack Thorne wrote the screenplay while Lorne Balfe composed the music for the show. Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch, Otto Bathurst, Carolyn Blackwood, Joel Collins, Toby Emmerich, Deborah Forte, Julie Gardner, Tom Hooper, Ben Irving, Philip Pullman, Ryan Rasmussen and Jack Thorne worked as the executive producers.

Laurie Borg served as the producer while Justin Brown worked as the cinematographer. Niven Howie, Nick Arthurs, Dan Roberts, Chris Gill and David Fisher worked as the editors while Bad Wolf, New Line productions, and Scholastic served as the production companies.

His Dark Materials: Plot and Cast

HBO details the plot on its website as such:

“Based on author Philip Pullman’s beloved trilogy, His Dark Materials follows Lyra, a brave young woman from another world. Lyra’s quest to find her kidnapped friend leads her to uncover a sinister plot of a secret organization, encounter extraordinary beings and protect dangerous secrets.”

Dafne Keen plays Lyra Belacqua, who is also known as Lyra Silvertongue. Ruth Wilson plays Marisa Coulter, who is an explorer and Lyra’s mother. Anne Marie Duff plays Maggie ‘Ma’ Costa, a Gyptian woman and the ex-nurse of Lyra. Clarke Peters plays the Master of Jordan College.

James Cosmo plays Farmer Coram van Texel, Serafina’s former lover and an elderly Gyptian. Ariyon Bakare plays Lord Carlo Boreal, a Magisterium official who crosses between two worlds. James McAvoy plays Lord Adriel Belacqua who is a scholar and explorer, and is also Lyra’s father. Lin-Manuel Miranda plays Lee Scoresby, an aeronaut.
