Created by Jemaine Clement, What We Do in the Shadows is an American mockumentary comedy horror television series that premiered on March 27, 2019, on FX. The second television series in the franchise is based on the 2014 film of the same name written by Clement and Taika Waititi, the series follows four vampire roommates in Staten Island and stars Kayvan Novak, and Matt Berry, Natassia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Proksch.

The second season premiered on April 15, 2020, followed by the third and fourth seasons on September 2, 2021, and July 12, 2022. In June 2022, ahead of the fourth season premiere, the series was renewed for a fifth and sixth season.

The basic premise followed by the series overall the last three seasons is, “What We Do in the Shadows recounts the lives of three traditional vampires, Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja; Colin Robinson, an energy vampire; and Guillermo, Nandor’s familiar, in Staten Island, New York City, New York. The vampires interact with the modern world and other supernatural beings in this series.”

As, What We Do in the Shadows Season 4 is premiering next month on July 2, 2022. So, it is very early to guess the plot for season 6, which is expected to pick up the pilot episode from the finale of Season 4 just like the prior seasons of the series have done to connect the plots and avoid any major loopholes in the story as the premise evolves each chapter.

Hence, the sixth season is also expected to revolve around the story and expand the characters on these plotlines and expand the universe with major changes to experiment with the story that keeps the viewers intrigued with the series so that they tune in to see more seasons.

Before the fourth-season premiere, FX renewed the series for a fifth and sixth season. The release date of the What We Do in the Shadows season 6 is yet to be announced. Since season five has not been released yet, it is impossible to predict the release date for season 6.

The new season might consist of 10 episodes like the previous seasons, however, an official confirmation is awaited. The series has been critically acclaimed (particularly for its cast and writing) and nominated for 17 Emmy Awards, including the Outstanding Comedy Series in 2020 and 2022.
