What You Should Know About ‘The Beatles: Get Back’

Published

on

The Beatles: Get Back is an upcoming documentary film based on The Beatles’ 1970 album Let It Be. The album was originally supposed to be called Get Back. Director Michael Lindsay Hogg originally created a documentary of the album in 1970, and so this film borrows material from that.

Peter Jackson directed the film while also producing the film along with Clare Olssen and Jonathan Clyde. Jabez Olssen works as the editor while Walt Disney Pictures, Apple Corps and WingNut Films worked as the production companies. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures worked as the distribution company.

What is the film all about? When is it going to come out? Is it worth watching? Well, you gotta keep on reading more in order to find out!

The Beatles: Get Back: Plot and Cast

Peter Jackson’s team for the film was given access to around 55 hours of footage as well as 140 hours of audio from the original Get Back documentary. This project becomes really meaningful because most people assume this album involved a lot of drama and differences between the members of The Beatles.

However, Jackson confirmed in a press statement to NPR that he was “relieved to discover the reality is very different to the myth … Sure, there’s moments of drama – but none of the discord this project has long been associated with.”

Paul McCartney verified Jackson’s statement to NPR in a statement of his own, saying, “I am really happy that Peter has delved into our archives to make a film that shows the truth about the Beatles recording together.

Ringo Starr echoed McCartney and said, “There was hours and hours of us just laughing and playing music, not at all like the Let It Be film that came out in 1970. There was a lot of joy and I think Peter will show that.” Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison also cooperated with Jackson as he made the film.
