In The Mandalorian Season 2, Timothy Olyphant is rumored to be donning Boba Fett’s iconic armor as Cobb Vanth.
Who is this Mysterious Character?
Earlier it was reported that Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant was cast in a concealed role for the upcoming The Mandalorian Season 2. This kept many fans wondering what character the actor could be playing. Now, it was suggested by a new report that Olyphant will be donning Boba Fett’s iconic armor in the upcoming second season of Disney+ series.
Now, this piece of information seems to conflict with recent reports that Temuera Morrison was to play the galaxy’s most iconic bounty hunter. Also, it appears that Olyphant will be playing the role of Cobb Vanth. This character was introduced in Chuck Wendig’s 2015 novel, Star Wars: Aftermath.
Even though Vanth’s is mostly shrouded in mystery, we know that he is a former slave who freed himself. Not just that, he rose to become the self-appointed Sheriff of Freetown on Tatooine. Vanth is also a skilled gunslinger. He is a lawman with zero tolerance for criminals. Vanth feuds with the Red Key crime syndicate and encounters Adwin Charu in Wendig’s Novel. Adwin Charu was sent by crime lord Lorgan Mavellan to retrieve a chest of Mandalorian armor which was found by Jawa scavengers in the wreckage of Jabba the Hutt’s sail barge.
Storyline
Aboard a Jawa Sandcrawler, Vanth demanded Charu to hand over the Mandalorian armor to him, since he would have needed it for his work as a lawman. Charu didn’t agree and drew his gun on Vanth. In a moment, Vanth swiftly grabbed Charu’s blaster and shoots him in the shoulder. Then he keeps the armor and spares Charu’s life as a warning to the Red Key crime syndicate to leave the city of Freetown alone.
Now, as Mayor of Freetown, Vanth donned the Mandalorian armor and established a community of decent people to resist the crime syndicates. He enlists Malakili, the rancor trainer from Return of Jedi. Vanth even made a deal to ally himself with Tusken Raiders for protection.
Expectations
To anyone who follows Star Wars, it’s crystal clear that the Mandalorian armor that Cobb Vanth acquires is salvaged from the Sarlacc Pit of Carkoon in Return of the Jedi, the site of Boba Fett’s untimely demise. It’s likely that Fett will cross paths with Vanth in the Disney+ series in hopes of requiring his iconic armor.
