Why The Batman Got Delayed Yet Again

The Batman is the newest version of the DC Comics favourite superhero. Unless you have another, in which case, you can probably skip this article. This highly awaited film has had several delays already, mostly due to the pandemic, and now here’s another one. Robert Pattinson, who is set to star as the newest (and hopefully, better) Bruce Wayne, has reportedly tested positive for Covid-19. When will the movie hit the theatres? Read more to find out!

The Batman: Plot and Cast

The Batman is the newest reboot of the original comics and Christopher Nolan franchise, so we expect it to be quite similar. In this version, Batman starts his second year of fighting crime in Gotham City, where he comes across the Riddler. The Riddler is a serial killer, who leaves clues for Batman through riddles and puzzles. Director Matt Reeves tried to base his character after the Zodiac serial killer.

Reeves wanted to portray his version of the Batman as highly flawed, an individual who is still learning. His Batman is inexperienced and isn’t fully formed like the traditional superhero in the comic versions. He wishes to show Bruce Wayne at his most vulnerable, but constantly fighting those demons and strengthening himself to fight the evils in Gotham City.

A huge part of his inner struggle and guilt is caused by Wayne Enterprises, Bruce’s heir company. Robert Pattinson found himself taking on the role precisely because of these flaws. His deep Batman voice was inspired by his Lighthouse co-star’s voice. He trained in jiu-jitsu for months and watched other popular actors bring their superheroes to life.

Zoë Kravitz plays Selina Kyle or the Catwoman while Paul Dano takes the stage as Edward Nashton or the Riddler. Jeffrey Wright plays James Gordon, Batman’s ally police officer. Andy Serkis plays the beloved Alfred Pennyworth.

The Batman: Release Date and Trailer

After a six-month filming delay, The Batman had to stop shooting again last week after Pattinson was tested positive for Covid-19. The release date has now been set for October 2021 instead of June 2021. Here’s the trailer if you haven’t watched it yet:
