Work It: Plot, Cast and Updates!

on

After the legacy of Step Up and it’s influence on the aspirants, Netflix came up with a new dance comedy named Work It to compete with the game. The drama had been directed by Laura Terruso and produced by Alicia Keys, Leslie Morgenstein, and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton, and was released on August 7, 2020. Not only the dance freaks but the non-dancers, too, enjoyed the film thoroughly, and let’s just say, Work It did push people to do workouts. The 93 minutes motion picture was in conversations since 2019, when Adam Fogelson of STX announced the film along with Alicia Keys producing it. The filming was done between June and August last year at several college and university campuses, like that of Humber College (Toronto), York University (Toronto), and California State University (Los Angeles).

What is the story?

The official description of Work It on Netflix goes like this, “A brilliant but clumsy high school senior vows to get into her late father’s alma mater by transforming herself and a misfit squad into dance champions.” The film promises with its content, i.e, dance, and hence, gets straight to the point. The background is that of any typical high-school, where everyone’s dream is somehow attached to or revolves around dance. To get into their preferred universities, they ultimately form a group consisting of skilled misfits and nontraditional dancers, to compete against their rival group.

Work It is refreshing, realistic, and very light-hearted. The casts managed to portray the raw aspirations and hope in the eyes of the upcoming dancers. Even though the film, to some extent, fail to develop the characters, but is successful with the theme and idea.

Who are the casts?

The casts of Work It is no new to you and they hyped their fans with their new release. The list starts with Sabrina Carpenter, Liza Koshy, Jordan Fisher, and goes on with Keiynan Lonsdale, Michelle Buteau, Drew Ray Tanner, Naomi Snieckus, Jayne Eastwood, Indiana Mehta, Tyler Hutchings, Nathaniel Scarlette, Neil Robles, Bianca Asilo, Kalliane Bremault, and Briana Andrade-Gomes.
