Today unofficial images of the Xiaomi Mi 9 have surfaced online. The smartphone is the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 8 launched last year in May. The leaked images seem to match the previous information we have on the device.
On the rear, there is a vertically stacked triple camera set up at the left corner. The two sensors and the LED flash is embedded in a single module. The main module is a 48MP sensor, while the other two is reported to be an 18MP and 8MP sensor.
The front features a 6.4-inch display with a small teardrop notch. There is an alternative render where it has a small traditional notch and an on-screen fingerprint display. There are no visible bezels but a very small chin.
The Mi 9 is expected to be powered by the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and come with support for very fast charging as hinted by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun earlier this week. The handset will be equipped with a 6.4 inch OLED display.
The upcoming smartphone could be two devices: M1902F1T/A and MI1902F2A with later are likely to be the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. The model number’s first four digits depict the year/month while the next two symbols stand for device class and carrier respectively. The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is speculated to sport a 6.0-inch display and powered by a Snapdragon 7150 SoC, which is the successor to the SD 710.
Currently, there are no official launch dates but considering the Mi 8 was announced in May, the Mi 9 is two-three months away. Xiaomi has a scheduled a media event on February 24, a day ahead of the Mobile World Congress (2019) event where the Mi Mix 3 5G handset powered by a Snapdragon 855 is expected to make an appearance.
