Xiaomi Redmi 4 and 4A gets MIUI 10 update

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 4  and the Redmi 4A in May 2017 and November 2016 respectively. Today the Chinese manufacturer started rolling out the MIUI 10 update globally for the devices. It is good to see Xiaomi updating its old handsets with the latest version of the MIUI.

The update is numbered MIUI 10.1.1.0.NCCMIFI and is of 316MB and 286MB for the Redmi 4  and the Redmi 4A respectively. Unfortunately, the Android version is still on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with the MIUI 10 goodies on top. The Redmi 4A gets the July 2018 security while patch while the Redmi 4 gets the latest 2018 security patch.

If you own a Redmi 4 or the Redmi 4A smartphone, you can check the availability of the update by going to Settings > System Update. It is advised that you charge your battery up to 50% and back up your data to avoid any data loss.

The MIUI 10 focuses on AI and Machine learning making a lot of processes automatic by predicting real-world decisions. The new version adapts to your usage habits and diverts the power to a certain set of apps. This means faster navigation, lesser lag, more power and efficiency giving a fresh life into the handset that was built for Android Marshmallow. The smartphones battery life will certainly get a bump and reduce the charging time. It comes with a refreshed notification panel, a new volume slider, and a natural sound system.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a front glass and aluminum body with a 5 inch IPS LCD display of HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) and 16:9 aspect ratio. It houses an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 and is available in 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal space. As for the Redmi 4A, it sports a 5 inch LCD IPS display with HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) and is powered by a Snapdragon 425 coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal space. Both the devices sport a single rear 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture while offering a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture at the front. They are backed by a 3120 mAh battery comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
