Xiaomi today launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India. It is the successor to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and has four cameras- two on the front and two at the back. There are a couple of things like bigger notched display with screen-to-body ratio of 86% and splash resistant coating which sets it apart from its predecessor.
As for its specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro features a 6.26 inch FHD+ display with a resolution of FHD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) an aspect ratio of 19:9. Under the hood, it is houses a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with Adreno 509 GPU. It is available with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be further expanded to 128GB with microSD card.
As mentioned, the device sports a dual camera setup on the front and rear. The rear has a 12MP primary camera with f/1.9 aperture, 1.4 µm, EIS and LED flash and a 5MP secondary sensor supporting Dual PD dual-core focus. On the front it offers a 20MP + 2 MP configuration with f/2.0 aperture and features like portrait mode, beauty enhancement features.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and will be backed by a 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology which provides 34 hours of music or 6 hours of game or 19 hours of local calls or 8.5 hours of 1080p video . It has a fingerprint sensor at the rear though it supports AI Face Unlock. There is also the option of dual Hybrid SIM slot meaning users can’t use a microSD card if they use both SIMs at the same time. The handset comes with a water resistant p2i coating.
As for the price, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro comes at a price tag of Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,999 for the 4GB and 6GB variant respectively. It will be available in Black, Blue and Rose Gold color options and go on sale from November 23 at 12 noon on Mi.com and Flipkart as well as Mi Hone retail stores. As for Black Friday deals, the 4GB RAM variant will be available at Rs 12,999 and the 6GB variant at Rs 14,999 only for November 23. Reliance Jio is offering Rs 2,400 cashback on purchase of JIO SIM and up to 6GB extra data and cashback of Rs 500 on HDFC credit, debit and EMI options.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro performs well but it cannot be considered as a good upgrade over the Redmi 5 Pro. Other than the front camera and bigger display, the other internal specifications are essentially the same. The company opted for a micro-USB port instead of a USB Type-C processor and you have to buy a quick charger to use the quick charging feature.
