Presented by CBS, Young Sheldon is an American sitcom television series created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro. The series is a spin-off prequel to The Big Bang Theory emphasizing on the character of Sheldon Cooper and his not so intelligent family. Sheldon is a nine-year-old boy when the series starts. He is already going to high school at this age in Texas. Iain Armitage stars as young Sheldon, alongside Lance Barber as his father, Zoe Perry as Sheldon’s mother, Montana Jordan as Georgie, Raegan Revord as a notorious twin sister and Annie Potts as Grandmother. Jim Parsons, who portrays the adult Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory, narrates the series and serves as an executive producer. Interestingly, the person behind the idea of Young Sheldon was actually Older Sheldon Cooper(Jim Parsons). Jim then passed it on to the producers of The Big Bang Theory. The development began in November 2016.
In January 2018, CBS renewed the series for a second season which premiered on September 24, 2018, and in February 2019, for a third and fourth season, with the third season having premiered on September 26, 2019. Notably, the third season was cut short compromising on the final episode due to coronavirus outbreak.
The Fourth Season
Season 4 of Young Sheldon was due to arrive in September 2020, but sources revealed that the development of season 4 hasn’t even started yet which means its almost impossible to have the episodes ready in due time. The best bet for the release of the 4th season would be somewhere around mid to late 2021.
What to Expect?
Many fans have the question of whether Mary and George will split in the 4th season! Looking at the facts, at the end of season 3, Sheldon received offer letters from many colleges. Both Mary and George have mutually decided to let Sheldon go to College after a big fight. As a result, Sheldon compromises and decides to finish his studies at East Texas Tech, where he already goes for weekly physics lectures. According to The Big Bang Theory canon, Sheldon finished his undergraduate studies at age 14, giving the series three more years before he moved to California for his graduate studies at Caltech. With all this time in hand, the show will cover Goerge’s affair(mentioned in The Big Bang Theory) leading to the separation of Mary and George, the changes at Cooper’s residence due to the absence of young Sheldon. Lastly, Georgie’s success story to becoming a successful entrepreneur and owner of Dr. Tire.
The cast appears to be the same as the previous seasons with only one rumored alteration of Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper. Keep tuned!
