Published

on

YouTube has emerged as one of the most used video streaming platforms these days. Over 1.9 billion users have made it the second most popular social media platform. More than 500 hours of video are uploaded on YouTube every minute. YouTube is now one of Google’s subsidiaries; and time and again, the developers of this social media platform are updating the application. YouTube end screens have replaced the traditional annotation features of YouTube. The latest YouTube end screen is mobile and desktop-friendly, and thus, the users love it. But, there is much more to the YouTube end screen.

What is a YouTube end screen?

A YouTube end screen is a clickable box that allows users to take any action immediately after your YouTube video ends. As you roll your thumb towards the end of the video, you can see that a thumbnail expands wherein you can see more information. This is where one can see suggestions of what to play next, subscribe to the channel, and much more. The YouTube end screen allows the users to decide within 5-25 seconds after the video ends about what they want to do next. With the YouTube video editor, you will be able to add a YouTube end screen to your video, quite easily.

Why is the YouTube end screen important?

One of the major differences between YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, is that people perceive YouTube as a search engine. In contrast, other social media platforms are used as media, entertainment, and a place for passing time. With the introduction of the YouTube end screen, a major step has been initiated to create a benchmark for YouTube. Now, the autoplay button will instantly pop up on YouTube, just like other social media platforms.

YouTube was always considered to be the “Supreme in the world of Videos,” but time and again, steps are being taken so that the platform can be made more and more user friendly. Also, with YouTube end screen collaborating and branding opportunities have been made quite easy.

And finally, one of the most important purposes of the YouTube end screen is to increase the viewership. YouTube end screens can expand your viewers and also increase the number of viewing hours on YouTube.

How to utilize the YouTube end screen?

With the YouTube end screen, you have got several options. There are four major ways in which the YouTube end screen can be utilized fully for your channel. They are as follows –

  • Subscribe – The main and the probably the most obvious goal of any YouTuber is to increase the number of subscribers. A YouTuber can add a “Please subscribe” button on the YouTube end screen. So, if the viewer likes your video, then they can subscribe to your channel.
  • Another video – You can also give a link to another one of your videos. The other video may or may not be related to the content of the current video where you have added the end screen. This will redirect the traffic back to your page. The viewer will spend more time on your channel, which will increase their viewing hours, and they might turn up as a loyal follower of your channel. You can also choose a video that already has a significant amount of views. This will again promote your video.
  • Branding Opportunity – YouTube end screen offers an excellent opportunity for branding. You can give a link to your sponsored products at the end of the video. This can motivate your audience to check those products and even buy some of them. This is another form of affiliate marketing.
  • Another YouTube Channel – With the YouTube end screen, you can also direct your audience to another YouTube channel. This can be one of your friend’s channels or even your own.
  • Charity – Other than this, you can also use the YouTube end screen for charitable causes. There are many crowdfunding platforms available, and thus, many such notable causes can be associated with your YouTube end screen. This will create a positive image in the mind of your audience.

You can use at least 2-3 of the above-mentioned elements in your YouTube end screen. But, it is always advisable to use minimum icons, otherwise, the screen might look quite cluttered. This might not impress the viewers.

Tips to add an effective YouTube end screen

To benefit most from your YouTube end screen, you must follow some of the most important tips and strategies –

  • Labeling – It is very important to correctly label your end screen. Try to use terms like “Watch next” or “next video.” This makes it easy for the audience to understand that this is a clickable button.
  • Add social icons – Try to connect different social media accounts/ platforms that you use, on your YouTube end screen. This will result in constructive feedback and increase the number of viewers.
  • Card: Add YouTube cards for your next video with an appealing thumbnail. This help user engagement and subscription to your YouTube channel.

So, now get-set-go with your YouTube end screen. You can also use an outro maker to enhance the look and aesthetic of your YouTube end screen.
