Is the Esports Scene Still Growing in 2023?

Published

on

For those unaware, Esports is one of the biggest sport sensations for years now. What was once thought of as a joke is now in serious contention to becoming an Olympic sport. The scene has grown tremendously in the past decade thanks to the new generation of young people and players who have great interest in playing video games competitively considering the prizes some of the tournaments offer.

And that’s not where it stops. Esports has invaded TV channels, entered the Olympic sport talk, and the sports betting market too. Annual tournaments in DOTA 2, CS:GO, or Fortnite and Overwatch have prizes worth millions, and they’re a huge draw for punters too. The best sports betting sites feature every Esports match on the bigger or smaller stage, and punters can put their money on it or play live casino UK games at the best betting sites. Betting has helped the Esports scene grow further, and if you ask experts, it’ll only get better from here.

Incredible Growth

We’d lie if we say that online betting hasn’t helped Esports. In the past, people would only bet on football, horse racing, basketball, or any of their other favourite sports. In the past decade, bookies have shyly added Esports tournaments only to reap the rewards later. What was once an afterthought is now growing into a huge hit with punters who can’t wait to bet on their favourite teams.

And it’s not just bookies that made Esports popular. The incredible growth was primarily influenced by online and TV channels streams of the biggest tournaments. For example, there might be a TV channel dedicated to Esports tournaments in your country, or you can watch streams online for free. All the biggest tournaments such as The International can be streamed across a range of devices, and that helps the sport grow exponentially.

In the past 5 years or so, Esports teams have gotten sponsorships from huge hardware developers or other investors. Everyone’s seeing how important Esports and video games have become for the new generation and are trying to tap into this market. To the delight of fans, of course. They get paid incredible for their video game exploits, while sponsors get the exposure they want. The market is still growing in 2023, and it won’t be long before the prizes for the top tournaments grow larger. With it, interest will skyrocket once again.

What Does the Future Hold?

The future for Esports is certainly bright. As new tournaments and video games arise, the industry will receive a much-needed boost. Further streams and betting site presence will propel it forward even more, and with new generations eager to make their name in Esports, there’s no stopping the phenomenon.

Esports is growing in 2023 and will continue growing beyond. There’s no question about it, as more and more players join the fray. To top things off, it’s becoming quite the hit at bookies, who are eager to offer early odds on the biggest tournaments, placing it on almost the same pedestal as football.
