Derry Girls is coming back to leave you on the floor rolling in laughter. The show which was created by Lisa McGee, initially got the rights to be aired on the British Tv channel ‘Channel4′, will be returning on your screens with its brand new season 3! The show became a huge success in the U.K. for its raw and riveting humor. It is bringing another season which would be packed with head-spinning laughter scenes.
The show is set in the 1990s in the small town of Derry, Nothern Ireland. It revolves around the lives of three best friends who are living in war-torn Ireland. The show depicts their lives and how they enjoy every moment without caring about the political situation of their country.
Derry Girls comically portrays the lives of these girls and sketches out their lives to be of the utmost importance. It shows their troubles and how they navigate through adolescence in a war-torn country. The struggles of being teenage girls, who just want to enjoy their lives, experience high-school romance, explore the world and enjoy what life has got to offer with their limited resources.
The show also gives context about the girls’ culture and families. It has kept its fans entertained and happy. The show has 12 episodes so far and has managed to give its fans more than sufficient content. The girls in the show have been shown catholic and are made to attend a strict catholic all-girls school. Their daily struggle of fitting in amongst the prim and proper girls leaves the viewers chuckling.
The fans of the show absolutely adore the cast of the series. The remarkable acting and the imitation of the impeccable Irish accent by the cast was much appreciated by the critics and the fans! Also, the character of Dylan Llewellyn as James Maguire, an English teenager roaming amongst the Irish girls had the fans cracking with chortles.
The show which was supposed to release its season 3 in 2020, has put the release on hold due to the COVID situation. It has not been clarified if the shooting was left midway or if season 3 is ready to be released. The tentative release date is yet to be confirmed but sources say that the show won’t be airing before 2021.

The show due to its high streaming rates and good reviews had been nominated for several TV awards. It was nominated for BAFTA TV Awards and has won Royal Television Society Awards for Best Scripted Comedy. Along with this, it has won British Screenwriter’s Award and Radio Head awards, some of the most influential awards in the U.K’s industry of film and cinematography.
